Provide supper for your students in after school programs

You CAN Offer a Supper Program
Yes, even if your kitchen is closed and your staff is no longer at school, you can provide a full supper to your students. Meal Breaks is a new shelf stable “grab & go” supper meal now available in six nutritious varieties. Together with milk, each meal provides the recommended levels of key nutrients that children need each day as outlined by the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans. (Click here for menus and nutritional info)
IN 1998, the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) approved the At-Risk After School Meal Program, which provides a full supper at no charge to qualified children of varying age groups provided they participate in an after-school program after their normal school day.
Federal Reimbursement is Available
As a distributor of Meal Breaks, not only would you be helping to feed hungry children, but you would be entitled to federal reimbursement of:
- $2.5675 for every meal that qualifies as a free meal, and
- $2.1675 for ever meal that qualifies as a reduced meal
Requirements
To qualify for federal reimbursement, the following requirements must be met:
- The meal must be served after regular school hours
- The child must participate in an eligible enrichment or educational program
- IN 7 states (DE, IL, MI, MO, NY, OR, and PA), children qualify if they are age 18 or less. If 50% of the children at a site are eligible for free or reduced meals, then 100% of the children at that site are eligible for a free supper. (That’s right, all of the students eat for free!)
- In the 43 remaining states, if children are age 12 or less, they must file an application to qualify for reimbursement – similar to the National School Lunch Program.
Contact us or ask your ESE representative or local broker about how you can offer a Meal Breaks supper program and help make a difference.
